The Fear Factor

Some claim that all attempts to put the fear of G-d into Jews today is a useless endeavor. They simply aren't motivated by it. Instead, unconditional love is the answer. It sounds nice, but is it true?

The Prophet Yeshayahu (Perek 2, Pasuk 19)---

And they shall come into the caves of the rocks and into the hollows of the earth, because of the fear of the Lord and because of the splendor of His pride, when He rises to break the earth.

The Prophet Yeshayahu (Perek 13, Pasukim 6-13)---

Lament, for the day of the Lord is near; like a raid from the Almighty it shall come. Therefore, all hands shall grow feeble, and the heart of every mortal shall melt. And they shall panic; pangs and throes shall seize them; like a woman in confinement they shall writhe; each man shall be amazed at his fellow; their faces are faces of flames. Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, cruel with wrath and burning anger, to make the land desolate, and its sinners He shall destroy from it. For the stars of the heavens and its constellations shall not allow their light to illuminate, the sun has become dark in its going forth, and the moon shall not shine its light. And I will visit evil upon the earth, and upon the wicked their iniquity; and I will cut off the pride of the presumptuous, and the arrogance of the tyrants I will humble. Israel to Hit Iran 'as Part of Deal including Yesha Evictions'

(IsraelNN.com) As two Israeli missile-class warships joined a navy submarine in the Red Sea, an Israeli defense source made it clear that the moves are intended as a threatening message to Iran.

“This is preparation that should be taken seriously,” the unnamed source told the London Times. “Israel is investing time in preparing itself for the complexity of an attack on Iran.”

“These maneuvers are a message to Iran that Israel will follow up on its threats,” he emphasized.

The exercises “come at a time when Western diplomats are offering support for an Israeli strike on Iran in return for Israeli concessions on the formation of a Palestinian state,” the Times said. It quoted an nanonymous British official as saying that if the deal completed, it would make an Israeli strike on Iran realistic “within the year.”

Diplomats said that Israel had offered concessions “on settlement policy, Palestinian land claims and issues with neighboring Arab states, to facilitate a possible strike on Iran. “ A senior European diplomat, also unnamed, said that “Israel has chosen to place the Iranian threat over its settlements.”

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said in a news conference Wednesday that the ships passed through the canal with Egypt’s permission, and that “ships may pass through the canal as long as they do not threaten the country which controls the canal.” He noted that the international agreements regulating which ships may pass through the Suez Canal date back to 1888.

The two Saar-class ships, INS Eilat and INS Chanit, sailed into the Red Sea Wednesday in what was the report described as “a clear signal that Israel was able to put its strike force within range of Iran at short notice.”

Ten days earlier, a Dolphin-class submarine with nuclear-missile strike capabilities passed through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea as well. Later reports said it, too, was accompanied by two Israeli missile boats – meaning that four missile boats have now crossed the canal. Israel has six Dolphin-class submarines, three of which are believed to carry nuclear missiles, the Times said.

Later this month, the Israel Air Force will hold long-range exercises in the U.S. and will test a missile defense shield at a U.S. missile range in the Pacific Ocean.

While local Israeli media have played up alleged tensions between Egypt and Israel over past statements by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, the Times report says that Israel “has strengthened ties with Arab nations who also fear a nuclear-armed Iran” and quotes an Israeli diplomat who said that relations with Egypt, in particular, have grown increasingly strong this year over the “shared mutual distrust of Iran.”

The report estimates that Israel’s missile-equipped submarines and its fleet of advanced aircraft could simultaneously strike at more than a dozen nuclear-related targets in Iran.

The Arrow interceptor system that will be tested in the Pacific is designed to defend Israel from ballistic missile attacks by Iran and Syria. According to Lt.-Gen. Patrick O’Reilly, Director of the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency, this month’s test will be against a target with a range of more than 1,000km. This range is too long for testing in the eastern Mediterranean, where Israel held its previous tests of the Arrow.

The Israeli Air Force, meanwhile, will send F16C fighter jets to participate in exercises at Nellis Air Force base in Nevada later this month, and Israeli C130 Hercules transport aircraft will participate in the Rodeo 2009 competition at the McChord Air Force base in Washington.

“It is not by chance that Israel is drilling long-range maneuvers in a public way. This is not a secret operation. This is something that has been published and which will showcase Israel’s abilities,” an Israeli defense official said.

The King of Persia Will Destroy the World

A three hour [nuclear?] war. Two thirds of the world's population destroyed? The West obliterated? Is this what the King of Persia [Iran] will do?

A few shows back, I read out one of the more famous predictions of what mankind may face in the future during the Messianic era. It was taken from MEDRISH “YALKUT SHIMONI” (Yeshiya 60). I roughly translated it from the Hebrew on air, but I now received a better and complete translation in my email inbox just yesterday already in English, so I am reposting this article from www.torahnews.org here:

WORLD WAR THREE

MEDRISH “YALKUT SHIMONI” (Yeshiya 60):

“Rabbi Yitzhak said: The year that Melech HaMoshiach will be revealed, all the kings of the nations of the world will provoke each other. The king of Persia [in modern times they changed the name of their country to “Iran”] will threaten the king of Arabia [today called “Saudi” Arabia] and because of this the king of Arabia will go to the king of Edom [USA] for advice.

Afterwards the king of Persia will destroy [most of] the world. The remaining nations will be hysterical and frantic and fall on their faces and will be seized as if by “birth pains”.

And the people of Israel will be frantic and hysterical and they will say, where will we come and go? Where will be come and go?

And Hashem will say to them: Do not fear my children, do not fear. All that I have done I did only for you. Why are you afraid? The time for your Redemption has come!

THE EXPLANATION OF THIS MEDRISH:

Rabbi Yitzhak said [about 2000 years ago!]:

The year that Melech HaMoshiach will be revealed [what is expected to happen in the world at the time when Melech HaMoshiach will be revealed], all the kings of the nations of the world will provoke1 each other [the threats of war among the nations will be heard in every corner of the world throughout the countries and between one another].

SUMMARY OF THE DEVELOPMENTS

[The numbers in parenthesis refer to further explanations found in the Hebrew version]

PHASE 1 (2) King of Persia [Leader of Iran] (4) will threaten (3) the King of Arabia [threats of war against the king of Saudi Arabia (which is the only Arab country which still has the name “Arabia”)]

PHASE 2 (5) The king of Arabia goes to Edom to get advice from them [The king of Saudi Arabia goes to the Western countries, which are led by America, to consult about how to act against the threat of war from Iran].

PHASE 3 “And King of Persia goes back (6) and destroys the whole world [it is clear that you cannot destroy the whole world with conventional weapons. It means to annihilate the world with nuclear weapons. ["and destroys the whole world"– the meaning isn’t actually the whole world, the meaning is "most of it is as all of it", meaning to destroy most of the countries of the world]”.

“And all the nations of the world [meaning the countries that are left and weren’t destroyed, see further on - according to the prophesy of Zechariah (13:8) two thirds of the world will be destroyed and only a third will remain] will be frantic and hysterical and “falling on their faces” and will be as if seized by (7) something like birth pains [a terrible and horrified fear that was unknown until now will grasp all the remaining nations - lest they too will die in a nuclear war (because they will be unable to protect themselves from the nuclear explosion and the radioactivity that will be formed)].

And the people of Israel will be frantic and hysterical [because of the terrible fear that will be in the world that Iran (Persia) will also attack Israel]. And they will say, where will we come and go [since there will be no possibility to find help or support and there will be no natural way to be saved - and about this situation it is said "we have no one to rely on except our Father in Heaven"] and they will say: “Where will be come and go?” [The Medrish repeats this twice to emphasize the helplessness and fear that will be then].

And Hashem will say to them [HaKadosh Baruch Hu to the people of Israel]: do not fear my children [you have nothing to fear], all that I have done I did only for you [HaKadosh Baruch Hu calms Israel, that all the destruction of war was only for your good - to destroy the wicked Kingdom of Edom and to remove evil from this world and make it possible for the Melech HaMoshiach to be revealed and rule over the world] Why are you afraid? [HaKadosh Baruch Hu repeats and calms Israel a second time from the great and terrible fear, similar to the repetition: “be comforted, be comforted, my people" (Isaiah 40:1)] “The time for your Redemption has come!”

CAN WE SEE THIS HAPPENING NOW?

In order that one should not think these words of the Medrish are incompatible with the reality of our days, it is important to clarify what often appears in the media regarding the “King of Persia” (President of Iran) and about the "mahdi".

The current president of Iran since his election has declared several times in public, that the main purpose of his government is to promote the arrival of the "mahdi", and for this purpose all military and economical resources will be given. He also said in the UN Assembly (September 25, 2007) that very soon the powerful Western countries will fall and be destroyed.

According to his belief and the belief of the radical cult that he is part of, the way to bring "the mahdi" (the Shiite "messiah” who is supposedly, according to their distorted beliefs, going to impose the region of Islam on the whole world) is by creating a situation of chaos with local and international destruction. That is why the President of Iran says they must ignite a local war and then destroy the Western world (which in his opinion is the root of all evil) using nuclear bombs.

This threat isn’t just an ideology or idle talk. Recently there was an article in the press that Israeli Intelligence has concrete information that Iran has a secret nuclear reactor that it is producing there nuclear warheads for rockets.

As it is known today, the government of Iran is made up only from the people of this cult who believe in this "mahdi" ideology. Whoever doubts this is dismissed from the government (as was the commander of the Iranian revolutionary guards; he was removed from his position and replaced by someone loyal to the President of Iran ym"s)

Another interesting item that often appeared in the world press: astrologists see something amazing: very soon the Western world will be destroyed by Iran by nuclear weapons (this corresponds exactly with the words of the Medrish above). To differentiate, lately there have been a few Tzaddikim in our generation who also say that soon there will be a nuclear war outside of Israel and in Eretz Yisroel will be the “selection” that was foretold in the prophesy of Zecharia (13:8) and Isaiah 6 ("v'od ba assirya etc" –see Kesubos 112b) by an earthquake, terrifying in its power, unlike anything known in the past.

In view of all this, it is clear that the words of this Medrish: "and the King of Persia returns and destroys the whole world" are very realistic and in light of ongoing world events, it is quite possible that this will actually happen in the near future.

There is also another striking event related to this in the words of our Torah Sages of 2000 years ago (in Yalkut Shimoni Shs”h 4:988) "Rabbi Barchiya said: in three hours in the future HaKadosh Baruch Hu will punish Esav and his men." Thus our Torah Scholars (z"l) tell us here that the destruction of the evil Kingdom of Edom will be accomplished "in three hours".

It is very possible that a nuclear war, as mentioned above, could last only 3 hours and in that time, the evil Kingdom of Edom could be destroyed [as must happen as stated in the prophesy of Ovadia (1:18) and several other prophets]. It is known from our sages z”l [Malbim, Abarbanel etc.] that today Esav is America, the countries of Europe and the West.

NOTE: When the Medrish says "and destroys the world", it doesn’t mean "the whole world, literally"; it means according to the Talmudic axiom “most of it is considered as all of it”. One can understand the words of the Midrash from the prophesy of Zecharia (13:8) "and there was throughout Land the words of HaShem, "two parts [of the world] will be cut off and destroyed and a third of it will remain", which means two thirds of the population of the world will die. Only a third will be left.

All this is regarding the nations of the world as it says in the commentaries there. However concerning Am Yisroel, chas v'shalom, the situation could be even worse if we don't do Tshuva, as it is written in the Gemorrah (Kesubos 112b, see there). Rashi explains there "when nine parts (of Am Yisroel) will be lost and nothing will be left but a tenth". Meaning that in the selection process that will take place before the arrival of the Moshiach, 90% of Am Yisroel will die chas v'shalom (if they don't do tshuva) and only a tenth will survive.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM ALL OF THIS?

We can see that we are very likely right before a third World War, the like of which has not been known in the past, which will start because of Iran. As we saw clearly the Prophets and Torah scholars of Israel predicted this thousands of years ago. According to their words as we explained above, the war will develop in 3 stages, one after the other:

Phase 1 - Iran threatens and provokes the king of Saudi Arabia

Phase 2 - King of Saudi Arabia goes to the countries of the West [lead by America] to get advice how to protect themselves

Phase 3 - Iran opens a nuclear war and destroys the Western world.

(It is possible between these phases there will be only a few hours)

WHAT EACH OF US CAN DO

Now everyone has a last opportunity and must choose the direction in which he is headed and decide where his loyalties stand. He has to choose between the good and the bad, between life and death. He has to choose between complete loyalty to the Creator of the World and abandoning himself to the dangers of death, chas v'shalom (if he continues to act according to his desires and follow the vanities of this world).

Whoever wants to save himself, his family and more Jews, the path he should take what he should do to be saved B'Ezrat HaShem is: to accept upon himself Mitzvat Aseh of Tshuva, and make a true chesbon nefesh [accounting] as he never did before, on all his deeds until now (as many as he can remember) and then:

1. Regret every sin that he did against the will of G-d (lo taaseh) and every sin he avoided doing, Mitzvos HaShem [mitzvat Aseh]

2. Confess with as much tears and sorrow as possible

3. Accept upon himself that he will be faithful to the Creator, will keep all the mitzvos, keep the ways of HaShem with all his heart and not go back to his evil ways.

4. Of course, if one fails and falls again, then he must immediately get up and start anew, and also l'asok B'Torah and gmilus chassadim l'shem Shomayim, and he will be saved B'Ezrat HaShem, and merit to greet Moshiach Tzidkaynu speedily in our time, Amen.

The beginning of the end for Iran

As I've written previously in ahmedinejad - learning from haman, it seems like it has indeed begun. That is, the downfall of the wicked haman in Iran.

A look at the pictures coming out of Iran, despite the ban on text messaging and internet, is a lesson in the power of sheer numbers of people. The government in Iran is clearly very afraid of those people. It also gives me chills to realize that NO government can stop anything from happening if the people desire it enough. Not even America....hint, hint.

Has the rasha's merits run out? It seems like it has...The footsteps are getting louder.

ps...When a country is dealing with such a massive internal problem, it is a perfect time for them to be attacked from external forces...I just hope those plans are ready....and that we're all ready for what comes with it.

Who will we trust?

Iran is beefing up its defenses against the threat of an Israeli strike. Yet, in the same day, we hear obama threaten/tell Netanyahu not to strike Iran.

There's absolutely no question that Hashem is putting our faith on the line here. This looming threat of Iran is a perfect storm. It's always in the background and often hits the headlines with scary updates. Hashem is keeping our attention on it. He wants us to focus on Him. He wants us to trust in Him.

Everyone has their idea of how/when/where Israel should strike Iran. Too many may have faith in the IAF. But we all know Who is really in charge. During these trying times pre-empting Mashiach, we are all being tested. Hashem wants to see who really trusts in Him. As it winds down the road and we realize that we really have no other alternatives, that choice will become more and more clear. Soon it will be so clear that we will have lost our free-choice. May Hashem help us all make the best of our free-choice now and choose to trust in Him only. There is nothing else!

Ahmedinejad - Learning from Haman

It seems to many that Ahmedinejad is Haman. He certainly is in the right country for the part. He certainly has been threatening to annihilate Israel and is working steadfastly to accomplish that goal - sort of like building the tree 50 Amot high and going to the king early in the morning.

In fact, the Rabbis tell us that we had already broken through the heavens earlier during the night he arrived at the king (first night of Pesah) and subsequently Haman's downfall began. It is interesting that we made Birkat HaChama just 1 day before Haman announced to the world that Iran is now a nuclear nation. Always, the Refuah (medicine) comes before the Makah (disease).

But if we can learn anything from the story of Haman, is that his wife and family were in on the secret - that is, it's fine to attack Jews and be on top, but once you begin to fall, it all ends quickly in the Jews' favor.

Haman still is second in command in his country just as in the days of Shushan. But as he spoke today at the Durban II anti-Israel conference, a mass of people exited during his speech, causing him to pause his rant and surely embarrassing him. This comes on the heels of Israel releasing word that they are ready to strike Iran within several hours or days of getting the "green light". All adding up to at least the beginnings of a downfall.

Earth Quakes & War with Iran and Its Proxies?

One thing leads to another. It's after Shabbat, and I am searching the news about the earth quakes that were felt yesterday (Friday) in Israel. Israeli residents of the north said that their homes were shaking, things were falling off their shelves, and their beds were moving. It was generally scary for a country that doesn't experience earth quakes like this former Californian. I look for more information and find that the earth quake's epicenter hit the eastern Mediterranean sea, about 12 miles east of Tyre, Lebanon, but was felt in Northern Israel at a 4.2 magnitude. This took place just after 2pm Friday afternoon. Another earth quake was felt Friday evening again in northern Israel registering at a 3.5 magnitude. Thank G-d, no injuries were reported. All in all, The Geophysical Institute of Israel (GII) confirmed that at least TEN earth quakes took place yesterday in southern Lebanon.

Prepare for Mass Casualties

Now, what makes this news story even more interesting - and disturbing - is that Israel's northern hospitals have been put on high alert and were told to expect a coming major earth quake soon, with the expectation of possible mass civilian casualties. Israel's Health Ministry sent out a notice to Israel's northern hospitals to prepare and be ready for possible mass casualties of Israel's northern residents.

Iran Digging 320,000 Graves

I then read on Iran's Press TV news website, that Iran is digging over a quarter of a million graves on its soil, ostensibly, because Iran is expecting a military invasion and an attack on it's nuclear facilities.

"Brigadier General Mir-Faisal Baqerzadeh, the Head of the Foundation for the Remembrance of the Holy Defense, said Sunday that the decision had been approved by Iran's Armed Forces Headquarters. "We will dig 15,000 to 20,000 graves in each of the border provinces," he said. "We do not wish the families of enemy soldiers to experience what Americans had to go through in the aftermath of the Vietnam War," added Brig. Gen. Baqerzadeh, who is also the head of the search committee for missing soldiers. The commander said the preemptive measures would decrease the time slain soldiers would be 'missing in action'."

All in all, the number of graves they are digging comes to approx. 320,000 graves – for their enemies, they say.

Now, the questions that need to be asked are:

1) Why is Israel preparing for mass casualties in northern Israel?

a) It could be exactly what we are reading, that we are expecting a major earth quake which could be very serious. Or…

b) Israel may be planning on attacking the Iranian nuclear facilities in the near future and is preparing for a massive missile attack in response, from Iran's proxy in the north, the Hezbollah and possible other terror groups.

2) Why is Iran digging 320,000 graves?

a) It could be that they are expecting 320,000 enemy soldiers to come in and invade Iran and attempt to attack it's nuclear facilities. They plan to kill all of these soldiers, and then bury them – out of humanitarian concern - as they claim. Or…

b) It could be that they are really expecting some type of aerial attack, whether by fighter jets or by long range missiles onto their nuclear facilities, and they really are expecting to bury their OWN soon to be dead Iranian people who are working and residing in the area.

I would imagine that there would be a lot of massive damage and dirty radiation leaks after an attack on a nuclear site, and Iran would need to bury, not burn, any bodies that lingered there as soon as they would be able to approach the area.

Now again, being careful about keeping speculation, speculation, as I have no personal proof, I believe a connection between these two news stories would be a possibility to consider.

Let's try to examine why Iran, a Moslem regime which sponsors terrorism and courts fascist leaders like Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, is so concerned about the humanitarian needs of its enemies. Why would they be so 'thoughtful' to worry about enemy infidels and bother to dig 320, 000 graves for those they hate. They could easily burn their bodies or just make much quicker mass grave sites.

Let's also think WHO would be sending in so many enemy soldiers to invade Iran? Not Israel. Our standing army is less than 200,000 men and women and I don't think that the US has that many troops in Iraq to invade Iran and still retain control in Iraq. So unless Russia is planning on marching in and attacking Iran's nuclear facilities, which seems unlikely since Russia and Iran do business together and the two signed an agreement for Moscow to supply fuel to Iran's nuclear reactor, I doubt very much there will be ANY military invasion on Iran.

One more point, how did Iran even come to the number of 320,000? There aren't enough 'enemy' troops from the USA or Israel to support such a number, yet this is the number they estimate and get approval for?

America does not have 320,000 troops in Iraq to invade Iran. Israel does not have enough troops nor the ability to march any troops through hostile Jew-hating countries like Jordan, Syria, Turkey or Iraq to get to Iran. So if this is the case, and Iran really expects an aerial attack, then reason tells us that these graves will be for the people working and living in these nuclear facility communities.

Only time will tell.
