Judea and Samaria

by Marc Prowisor

If you are a Jew, then this land is part of you.

"Judea and Samaria, the story of every Jew."

So the campaign goes. This campaign was started a while back to wake up Israelis as to their heritage in the heartland of Israel. It was quite successful. The message however, must be continued.
They are talking about giving up a piece of your history, your heritage and your land.

Judea and Samaria is the story of every Jew. It doesn't matter what kind of Jew you are - Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Progressive, Regressive, Expressive, and so on and so on - if you are a Jew, then this land is part of you, like it or not.

The connection occurs the second you claim to be a Jew. Sorry, but that's the way it is. When you go to shul, synagogue, temple, prayer meeting, whatever works for you, and read from the Torah, Prophets, or any of the other holy writings, or when you just sit back at home and are reading the best-selling book of all times, the places you hear mentioned in your history are here in Judea and Samaria. It is who you are, whether you are aware of it or not. When anyone in this world talks about giving this land up, they are talking about you. They are talking about giving up a piece of your history, your heritage and your land.

There are many who don't care whether this land is given up or to whom it belongs, but facts are facts and we must accept them.

In fact, anyone who accepts what is written in that Book has to accept this fact; if you don't accept the Book, that's something else.

Lately, there are so many making every effort possible to distance themselves from this land and its history, and do whatever they can to get the Jews out. The party line is that giving up Judea and Samaria to the "Palestinians" will bring peace to the region. And how is that? By giving a non-people a land?

There are nearly 300,000 Jews living in Judea and Samaria; that is not just a number, that is a reality. These people do not live in shacks, they live in houses, and they have their livelihoods there and are raising their families there. There is no way that 300,000 people are going to just get up and leave. How the world can expect this is beyond me. Imagine if this was asked of any other people besides the Jews how it would be looked upon.

Those people have come to be the cream of the crop of Israel, they represent the strongest Zionist entity that has been in this region since Joshua's time; and that is the reason the Arabs want us out; and that is why the World wants us out. It has nothing to do with land, it has to do with people - and that people is the Jewish people.

So if you are part of the "tribe", whether you agree or not, this is all directed at a part of you, and that part is called Israel.

Next step. Open your eyes, I just read an interesting quote that I would like to share:

"I sincerely hope that when the president goes in for his annual check-up, the doctors at Bethesda will do a brain scan. Surely something must be terribly wrong with a man who seems to be far more concerned with a Jew building a house in Israel than with Muslims building a nuclear bomb in Iran." - columnist Burt Prelutsky

The Muslims of Iran are building a nuclear bomb because Jews are building houses in Israel, and not just in Judea and Samaria. They don't want Israel to exist at all. And this is the same for all the Arab nations in the Middle
Israel's archenemy, Amalek, used the strategy of attacking the weak.
East, believe it or not. Just look at what they teach their children. The only reason that they are singing a different tune now is because they haven't managed to defeat us and wipe us out yet (and it is not going to happen). They also have a new friend.

We read in the Torah how Israel's archenemy, Amalek, used the strategy of attacking the weak and those who straggled behind in order to weaken the People of Israel. This is what the Arabs and our other enemies are attempting to do - weaken us and separate us from one another, and separate us from our land. We must not allow this to happen.

So, whether we agree with one another or not, let us remember and understand that Judea and Samaria are every Jew's story, and a part of us all, forever.

Knesset Speaker to Carter: No Israeli Consensus on Two-States

by Hillel Fendel

(IsraelNN.com) Though PM Netanyahu agreed to a demilitarized PA state under specific conditions in his policy speech this week, Knesset Speaker Ruby Rivlin told former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on Monday that the issue is far from agreed upon by the Israeli public.

“The heart of the dispute in our region is not just one of local territorial disputes,” Rivlin told the self-proclaimed mediator, “but an all-over Arab-Jewish dispute.” He explained just last week, during a solidarity visit to the Jewish city of Ariel in Samaria, that “only after we solve the Arab-Jewish conflict and can be confident that the Arab countries recognize Israel and our right to live here in security, can we address the conflict between ourselves and the Palestinians, with whom we are destined to live together.”

“There is no consensus in Israel regarding the two-state formula,” Rivlin said to Carter during the latter’s visit to the Knesset. “We will not, under any circumstances, allow the establishment of a neighboring state that will be a genuine threat on our existence.”

The two met for a half-hour, and discussed the recent speeches by U.S. President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Rivlin: We Want Long-Term Peace, not "Peace Now"
“We have returned to our homeland over the past 200 years in order to stay here,” Rivlin said. “When we first established this state, 61 years ago, we could never imagine that we would reach today’s population figures of seven million. We don’t want to rule over another nation, but we must protect ourselves. We want real peace, not fake, short-term ‘Peace Now,’ which is liable to be nothing more than an illusion.”

Carter Compares Terrorists and Shalit
Rivlin and Carter discussed the matter of Gilad Shalit, who has been held captive by Hamas in Gaza for three years. Rivlin said that Hamas has not allowed any visitors to see Shalit, in contravention of all humanitarian behavior. Carter noted that imprisoned Arab terrorists also do not receive visits from their mothers. Rivlin responded immediately, “There’s absolutely no room for comparison. Those are dangerous terrorists who were lawfully arrested after they perpetrated, or tried to perpetrate, murderous attacks in our streets.”

Carter asked to visit imprisoned convicted murderer Marwan Barghouti, a popular figure in the Palestinian Authority. Rivlin implied that this would be unlikely, as Barghouti is a dangerous terrorist who was convicted of five murders and acquitted for lack of evidence of some 30 more, but said that Carter should submit a request and the matter would be looked into.

A Spirtual Battle Begun

by Mystical Paths

On erev Yom Yerushalayim - Jerusalem Day (observed a day early this year) the final spiritual battle has begun. Since the days of the navi'im (the holy prophets of G-d) we have been awaiting this day, with excitement for how it ends but with trepidation for what it brings until then.

On erev Yom Yerushalayim, many have speculated for years on who Gog of the biblical prophecy of Gog of Magog may be (a good bit of that has gone on here at Mystical Paths). Does this leader have this attribute from this Midrash or that obscure Gemora quote? In doing so we've been searching for the merest hints, yet the clear signs through major actions are about to burst forth in front of our eyes.

The West, starting with Great Britain, then France, then the United States, has messed with Israel since her reemergence. First they blockaded, then boycotted, then helped (gaining merit), then withdrew support at critical times, then provided it (gaining merit again). They have cajoled Israel, at the price of Jewish blood, to not go to war and defend herself, to stop wars short of complete victory - thereby guaranteeing belligerency and the shedding of Jewish lives into the next generation, and used her as a pawn in global politics. But they've also traded with her, invested in her, and provided some diplomatic coverage.

While they have cajoled, bullied a bit, boycotted now and then, they have never directly threatened her. Yet we find out today, on erev Yom Yerushalayim, that President Obama and the US administration has decided exactly how Israel will be taken apart, how Jerusalem will be divided, and what Israel will give up. Notice what Israel will receive is not on that list, as that's not important.

I do not care that the Obama administration is turning the US government into something not seen since the 50's with MacArthur and the 70's with Nixon. I am mildly concerned that the Obama administration is completely disassembling the financial system of the last 20 years that brought great world prosperity, rather than just re-balancing it and applying better controls. I am slightly disturbed that during the most serious economic downturn since the 1920's the Obama administration is instructing major industries on how they will operate, what products they will produce, and piling on major added costs which will delay recovery by years.

But these are all domestic US issues. If people want to give this man great power and continued approval because 'at least he's doing something', even if it's a really bad something, well that's the way democracy goes. But with Darfur, Pakistan meltdown, an Iran going nuclear, Somalian piracy, when this man singles out Israel as the main world problem and decides the solution is to diplomatically crush her - then I say meet Gog.

My dear American brethren and believers in Hashem, will you stand silent as this man turns the world against Israel? Will you sit by as this man follows the words of that galach (priest) last week who declared to the Arabs residing on the land here that he supports their "ancestral" right to the Land of Israel? Will you wonder whether it's still safe to say anything as Gog leads a coalition of NATO plus other troops into the Shomron and exiles 200,000 Jews from their homes in the name of squatters who were not here 120 yeas ago?

Will you pray for your brethren's safety today, or wait until the UN patrols the streets of Jerusalem as Gog brings the world leaders to declare Jerusalem no longer a city of Israel, a city of the Jewish people, a city of King David, but rather a city of the world, a city of the Vatican, a city where Jews fear to visit their holy sites but Arabs boldly walk where they will.

The time to raise your voice to your political leaders is NOW. The time to cry out to G-d is NOW. The time to be here to strengthen Israel is NOW. For, Hashem Yerachem (G-d of Mercy), the days of Gog u'Magog may be only 14 days away.

In truth, we do not cry out that things may change because the geulah may come. G-d forbid for one moment it should be that we don't want it, and want it today. Rather, we cry out that the words of the navi'im be quick, painless, bloodless, no one should lose their home or be injured, and we merit the arrival of Moshiach and the complete geulah (redemption) literally right away.

And dear friends, all of Israel, secular Israel, religious Israel, zionist Israel, and all the people of Israel all the world over - as well as those who hold by the path of Torah and Hashem without being a part of Israel, all are about to learn that we only have our Father in Heaven, the Melech HaMelachim (the King of Kings), HaKodesh Baruch Hu (the Holy One, Blessed Be He), to rely upon.

As the navi writes, Jerusalem will be a cup of poison for the nations. Yet they seem to wish to rush to drink, for they neither read nor believe the words that they themselves appropriated.

Happy Yom Yerushalayim. May we celebrate with Hashem (G-d) in the Beis HaMikdash (the Holy Temple) THIS YEAR for the pilgrim holy day of Shavuos.

MK Katz: “Mr. Obama, Please Don’t Ignore our Democratic Choice"

by Hillel Fendel

(IsraelNN.com)
We, as a nation, are sovereign to act the way we want, and once we decided to vote against the 2-state solution, then the first thing Obama must do is to respect the choice of the democratic country of Israel.
Speaking from the Knesset plenum on Tuesday, MK Yaakov Katz asked U.S. President Obama to remember that Israel’s electorate voted against a 2-state solution.

MK Katz, head of the National Union party, received special permission from the Knesset Speaker to speak for 15 minutes on an “urgent motion for the agenda.” His topic: U.S. President Obama’s demand that Israel stop construction in Judea and Samaria.

“Mr. Obama knows that a full 47% of his country did not vote for him,” Katz said, “yet still and all, the moment that he was elected, it was his obligation to implement the agenda that he promised his people. The same must be true for Israel. We, as a nation, are sovereign to act the way we want, and once we decided to vote against the two-state solution, by voting for the nationalist parties by a wide majority, then the first thing Obama must do is to respect our choice, the choice of the democratic country of Israel.”

“Not to mention,” continued the freshman MK and veteran Judea/Samaria settlement leader, “that the areas in question have been our homeland for nearly 3,000 years – well before Islam was founded, and even longer before the Americans ever dreamed of founding their country. The entire monotheistic world – Christianity and Islam - knows that we were granted Divine rights to this land, and to say otherwise goes against the Bible, the Book of Books, and against G-d.”

“Mr. Netanyahu, on the whole, stood up proudly to the President, but on this matter of the settlement freeze, he appeared to be a bit bashful. If I was in his place," Katz said, "I would show great respect to President Obama, but I would tell him that, with all due respect, he cannot dictate to us our rights to build in the Land of Israel."

"We wish Mr. Obama well in his job, and hope that he succeeds, but we do not believe that he has the right, as the leader of the world’s largest democracy, to not show the required respect to our democratic choice.”

King David and Herod Reigned in Hevron Well Before Islam
Katz, and his three colleagues from the National Union, toured the ancient Biblical city of Hevron on Monday: “I met there with many representatives of the Arab media, from Al Jazeera and others, and I told them that we respect the prophet Muhammed and the millions of practitioners of Islam, but still and all, the fact is that King Herod built the Machpelah Tomb building atop the burial sites of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs hundreds of years before Islam was even founded. Not only that, but King David was King of Israel in this city of Hevron some 700 years before Herod!”

At this point, Knesset Speaker Ruby Rivlin interjected, “It was exactly 922 years earlier, not 700.”

Katz thanked him for the correction, and expressed the hope that the MKs would benefit from the important history they were learning.

Praise for Netanyahu, Invitation to Emanuel
Katz concluded by praising, once again, Netanyahu for his general approach in Washington. He also invited top Obama-aide Rahm Emanuel, “the son of a Lechi fighter, to return to Israel, and we will be glad to have you live with us in Beit El.”

Katz is a founding member and long-time resident of Beit El, the 10th-largest Jewish town in Judea and Samaria.
